Government declares a day of national mourning
The Montenegrin Cabinet, during today’s telephone session, based on the consent of the majority of its members, has adopted a Decision to declare 23 December 2024, a day of national mourning, in response to the tragic attack on students and teachers in the Republic of Croatia.
The day of national mourning will be marked by the mandatory lowering of flags to half-mast on all government buildings, local self-government institutions, and public establishments, in accordance with the Law on State Symbols and the Day of Statehood of Montenegro.
As stipulated in the Decision, public, cultural, and entertainment events will not be held in public spaces on this day. Additionally, music will not be played in hospitality venues.
Electronic and other media outlets are required to adjust their programming to reflect the observance of the day of national mourning.
