Ibrahimović-Photiou: Cyprus supports Montenegro's European agenda

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Ervin Ibrahimović, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus, Andreas Photiou.
The discussion affirmed the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries, and expressed readiness to further strengthen political dialogue and overall interstate ties.

The Minister expressed gratitude for Cyprus's continuous support for Montenegro's European integration, highlighting the significance of Cyprus's presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2026, within the context of Montenegro's further progress on its European path. He emphasized the commitment to the consistent implementation of reforms, with the aim of Montenegro becoming an EU member by 2028.
Ambassador Fotiu conveyed that Montenegro can count on Cyprus's full support in its aspiration to become the next member of the Union, pointing out the dedication and numerous potentials for further development of bilateral relations in the coming period.
The possibilities of intensifying cooperation in the fields of maritime affairs, education, culture, and economy were discussed, with a special focus on connecting the business communities of the two countries.
