Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović met today with Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro Barış Kalkavan.

During the meeting, it was noted that relations between the two countries continue to strengthen through intensive political dialogue and cooperation in various areas, including the economy, defence, transport, trade, tourism, and healthcare.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović emphasised Türkiye's importance as a key partner for Montenegro and expressed satisfaction with the collaboration between the two countries within NATO and on a broader international level. He affirmed Montenegro’s commitment to further strengthening and deepening this cooperation.

Ambassador Kalkavan stated that Türkiye is the third-largest investor in Montenegro and expressed contentment with the ongoing support for Montenegro's development, particularly in agriculture, education, and healthcare.

He also informed Ivanović about plans to establish an industrial zone – a technopark in Montenegro – and announced a forthcoming visit from Turkish investors to explore this initiative in more detail.

The meeting highlighted the constructive cooperation in defence and military industries, welcoming the establishment of a military attaché office at the Turkish Embassy in Montenegro.

Additionally, the importance of parliamentary cooperation was underscored, with Ivanović informing the Turkish Ambassador that a Friendship Group with the Republic of Türkiye has been formed in the Parliament of Montenegro.

Both parties emphasised that the cooperation and coexistence seen in Montenegro serve as a good example for other Western Balkan countries.
