Krivokapić, Nuncio Pezzuto: New Joint Commission for implementation of Basic Agreement between Montenegro and the Holy See will be formed soon
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met today with the Apostolic Nuncio to Montenegro based in Sarajevo, Archbishop Luigi Pezzuto and the Archbishop of Bar of the Catholic Church in Montenegro, Monsignor Rrok Gjonlleshaj.
The meeting discussed the formation of a new Joint Commission for the implementation of the Basic Agreement between Montenegro and the Holy See. Prime Minister Krivokapić emphasised the need for the formation of the Commission, and that it would be headed by Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović. The Prime Minister pointed out that he expects that with the formation of the Mixed Commission, its intensive work will begin, which will contribute to closer cooperation and further improvement of relations between Montenegro and the Holy See.
Krivokapić assessed that the Agreement, as an international legal instrument that defines the position of the Catholic Church in Montenegro, represents a platform and a significant incentive for further deepening and improvement of mutual relations, as well as a real indicator of Montenegro's full respect for Catholic citizens.
"Montenegro is ready for further improvement of bilateral ties with the Holy See in all segments, as well as for the continuation of mutual dialogue at the expert, high and highest level," Krivokapić said.
Apostolic Nuncio Pezzuto expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Commission will be formed soon, saying that it is important to move forward, and that the Holy See wants the best possible relations with Montenegro.
