Krivokapić – Reinke: Montenegro to return the full trust of its partners
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić met with the Ambassador of the United States of America in Montenegro, Judy Rising Reinke.
During the meeting, interlocutors apostrophized excellent bilateral relations as well as the pleasure regarding the fact that the first official meeting after the election of the new Government was with the American delegation. The Head of Montenegrin Diplomacy pointed out the importance of the US’s commitment to the countries of the region on their path towards membership in the EU, expressing pleasure with last week's visit of the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried and her Assistant Gabriel Escobar.
Minister Krivokapić assessed that at this moment it is necessary to regain the full trust of our Euro-Atlantic partners and secure results, primarily in the area of the rule of law, which will ensure that Montenegro finishes its negotiations for membership in the EU in the shortest amount of time.
The Head of Diplomacy strongly condemned Russian aggression on Ukraine and expressed pleasure with the firm unity of the allies in helping that country defend its territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty.
In this context, he expressed regret that the dynamic of alignment with the decisions of the Council of the EU by which sanctions on Russian individuals and entities are implemented was not faster.
Minister Krivokapić expressed hope that political dialogue between Montenegro and the United States would be additionally intensified through mutual visits at a high level.
