Meeting between Prime Minister Spajić and Polish President Duda
Poland fully supports the EU’s open-door policy and will assist Montenegro in joining the European family
Poland has consistently advocated for the European Union's open-door policy, recognizing the significant benefits of membership, Polish President Andrzej Duda stated during his meeting with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.
Joining the EU was a dream come true for Poland, President Duda remarked, adding that he fully understands the aspirations of the vast majority of Montenegrin citizens to conclude the negotiation process as soon as possible.
The Polish people have experienced all the benefits of membership, particularly freedom of movement and access to the single market. We also utilized EU funds very effectively, significantly advancing our infrastructure, including transportation and internet connectivity, President Duda said. He extended an invitation for Montenegro to join the “Three Seas Initiative” as a partner and invited Prime Minister Spajić to participate in this year’s summit in Poland.
We see this initiative as an opportunity to enhance connectivity, and we are deeply interested in joining. Thank you for the opportunity and for the unwavering support you have shown us on our European path. The year 2024 was Montenegro’s most successful year yet, as we received IBAR and closed three negotiation chapters. We remain committed to making progress, especially on Chapters 23 and 24, where the most work is needed, Prime Minister Spajić emphasized.
The discussion highlighted that Montenegro’s accession to the EU would serve as an example to other countries in the region, demonstrating that implementing challenging reforms pays off by leading to membership in the European family.
