Milatović: Montenegro is fully committed to EU foreign policy
Minister of Economic Development Jakov Milatović led the Montenegrin delegation at the EU-Montenegro Intergovernmental Accession Conference, which was held yesterday in Brussels. The conference was a good opportunity to confirm that membership in the EU is Montenegro's strategic commitment and key foreign policy goal.
At the very beginning, the Minister thanked Slovenia, which holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, for all the support it provided to Montenegro on its European path, as well as the European Commission, especially Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi for all the guidelines and support provided to our country so far.
Today was a very good opportunity to speak openly about everything that has been done in the previous year, about all the achievements and tangible results in the field of rule of law, economy and public administration. Today, Montenegro's full commitment to EU foreign policy was confirmed, which was praised by the EC and all EU Member States. This was also a good opportunity to present the Action Plan adopted by the Government last week in which we targeting all the priorities presented in the latest EC report, with a clear vision of how to deal with them so that the next progress report which will be published in October next year, recognises the progress we will make, said Minister Milatović.
In the end, Milatović expressed satisfaction that the commitment of the Government to speed up the negotiation process was recognised by the EC and member states, and that all actors were urged, including the Parliament and the judiciary, to help speed up the process. On behalf of the Government of Montenegro, he once again thanked Commissioner Várhelyi and Slovenia as the presiding country and pointed out that he was convinced that Montenegro would achieve even better results during the French presidency.
Chief Negotiator with the EU Zorka Kordić also took part in the Conference.
