Ministers Radulovic and Korcok: Montenegro and Republic of Slovakia – demonstrated friends and allies

Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović met today with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovakia Ivan Korčok, during his official visit to Montenegro. On that occasion, Minister Radulović expressed contentment with the fact that this visit is the first visit of Foreign Minister of one of the EU member state since the beginning of his term.

Minister Radulović stated that bilateral relations between two countries depicts high-level political dialogue, fruitful cooperation while noticing that there is still space for enhancement. He expressed the gratitude on the noteworthy donation of medical equipment in the amount of nearly 57 thousand Euros by the Government of Slovakia, that is another confirmation of solidarity and amity of our countries, having in mind challenging times that we are all have been witnessing to. On that line, Foreign Minister Radulović informed his counterpart with all the activities that Montenegrin Government has been undertaking regarding vaccine procurement for the most vulnerable social groups, thus showing interest for the possibility of purchasing of certain number of vaccines from Slovakia.

Minister Radulović has also pointed the necessity of dynamization of activities related to the EU negotiation process, while emphasizing our appreciation of consistent support of Slovakia in our reform endeavors.

“Slovakia is demonstrated promoter of our European orientation and we are very grateful on that”, he emphasized.

Furthermore, he stated that bilateral relations are additionally strengthened with membership in NATO, and that Montenegro remains credible ally within the Alliance. Head of Montenegrin diplomacy pointed out that in the following period, scope of our focus should be on mechanisms of cooperation strengthening in the field of economy, such as the Joint Commission for the implementation of the Agreement of Economic Cooperation between Montenegro and Slovakia.

Foreign Minister Korčok expressed gratitude to his counterpart on the reception, wishing him success in performing the new duty. He stated that Slovakia remains committed to the Western Balkans, adding thus that his official visit to the capitals of this region is a clear signal of partnership and friendship.

“Western Balkans is much more than neighborhood, and we welcome every accomplishment of yours in the European integration process”, stated Minister Korčok.

Foreign Minister of Slovakia agreed with Minister Radulović that besides European agenda, strengthening of bilateral contacts is of foremost importance, supporting in that sense initiative for intensifying of activities within framework of existing interstate platforms. He highlighted that along with European partners and within the Slovakia itself, he will thoroughly explore the possibilities of securing the certain amount of vaccines to Montenegro, and called on understanding, having in mind that his country itself has unfavorable epidemiological situation.

Interlocutors additionally exchanged their views on actual political situation in both countries, as well as situation on a European and global scale.
