Montenegro to co-chair UNECE

Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković Đurović participated in the 70th session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (‎‎UNECE‎‎) in Geneva on 18-19 April 2023.

In the next two years Switzerland will be the Commission chair, while Austria and Montenegro will be co-chairs.

‎The delegation of Montenegro, led by Minister Novaković Đurović‎‎, met ‎‎Executive Secretary of the UNECE Olga Algayerova‎‎ and ‎Acting Regional Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (‎‎UNEP) Europe Office Sylvie Motard on the sidelines of the 70th UNECE session.‎

‎During the meetings, Novaković Đurović pointed out the priorities and numerous challenges in the field of sustainable development and environment, arising from the Chapter 27 – Environment and Climate Change, the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.‎
