Montenegro has been recognized as a driving force behind regional initiatives, particularly those related to green transition, sustainable finance, and circular economy, all of which are crucial steps towards European Union accession. Acknowledging the significance of sustainable development for Montenegro and the entire region, the Government of Montenegro is, for the second year in a row, supporting the implementation of the ESG Adria Summit through a strategic partnership with Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro, the organizers of this grand event.

The ESG Adria Summit, the leading regional event dedicated to green transition, sustainable development, and responsible corporate governance, will be held for the second consecutive year in Tivat from 24 to 26 April 2024. This event is organized by Sustineri Partners and Porto Montenegro in partnership with the Government of Montenegro.

The inaugural ESG Summit was first held in April 2023 under the name "The Western Balkans ESG Summit." Due to the immense interest generated, the ESG Summit will expand from the next year to include Slovenia and Croatia, in addition to Western Balkan countries.

The inaugural ESG Summit marked a significant milestone in the dialogue about the application of environmental and social community protection standards, sustainable development, and responsible corporate governance (ESG standards) in the region. The event brought together over 450 participants, including prominent representatives from regional governments, international institutions, experts, and business leaders from over 150 companies. These organizations demonstrated their readiness to adopt new standards and contemporary practices in managing their operations, stated Biljana Braithwaite, Executive Director of Sustineri Partners.

Braithwaite expressed her satisfaction that Montenegro will once again host representatives from regional governments, numerous companies, investors, globally renowned lecturers, innovators, business leaders, and experts next year. On behalf of the organizers, she extended her gratitude to the Government of Montenegro as a strategic partner for recognizing the significance of the Summit. The Summit provides a regional platform for high-level discussions on critical global and regional sustainability issues and trends. "We have seen that events of this nature can enhance the reputation of the entire region, making it an attractive destination for responsible investments," Braithwaite concluded.

Danilo Kalezić, representing Porto Montenegro, added that the organizers are highly satisfied with the outcomes of the first ESG Summit. "We have heard strong viewpoints, conveyed concrete messages, and witnessed intriguing leadership," he explained.

Porto Montenegro is committed to sustainable development through environmental protection projects, greenhouse gas emission reduction, plastic and waste reduction, and the protection of local marine species. Raising awareness about these issues within the business community is vital, and the ESG Summit provides the ideal platform for this, Kalezić emphasized.

Further information about the event and registration details will soon be available through the official website: summit.esgadria.org.
