The United Arab Emirates has expressed a strong interest in deepening economic cooperation with Montenegro in various sectors, as discussed in a meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The signed cooperation agreements mark a new chapter in Montenegro-UAE relations and open new horizons for collaboration and development.

Through these agreements, we have defined cooperation with one of the world's most powerful economies. This is a clear indicator that the UAE’s most reliable investors are highly interested in investment opportunities. I believe that cooperation with the UAE Government will give a strong boost to Montenegro’s economic development, ultimately improving the standard of living for our citizens—our guiding principle in all processes, said Prime Minister Spajić.

The discussions emphasized that the Agreement on Economic Cooperation paves the way for numerous projects, with particular attention to the energy sector, where the UAE is already present in Montenegro through Masdar and the Krnovo wind farm. The UAE’s interest in energy investments goes beyond current projects, leaving room for even stronger collaborations in this field.

IT was highlighted as another potential area for cooperation, with data center development seen as an opportunity for Montenegro to attract international companies and establish itself as a regional hub in digital infrastructure.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed particular interest in Montenegro’s progress toward EU membership and plans for closing negotiation chapters in the accession process.

The meeting also addressed improving air connectivity between the two countries by establishing a year-round flight route, rather than operating seasonally as before. It was noted that this could provide a significant boost to the tourism industry, particularly in northern Montenegro, as UAE travelers are increasingly interested in mountain destinations.

Finally, the discussion also touched on global affairs and regional relations in the Western Balkans, an area of special interest for the UAE due to its vast potential.
