Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić met with Vice President for Policy and Partnerships at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Mark Bowman on the sidelines of the Summit of the Heads of Government of the Central European Initiative.

Prime Minister Krivokapić expressed his satisfaction with the arrival of Mr. Bowman in Montenegro, emphasising that he was happy to be able to discuss many topics that they had started, which could make Montenegro different in every sense.

This different Montenegro implies a visionary path followed by the current Government. This means that we want to make the infrastructure suitable for the 21st century and not just to be an air destination as we have been so far. That is why we have designed a project called "Montenegro Now" whose goal is to improve the quality of life of all citizens, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister pointed out that one of the most important projects that should be implemented as soon as possible is the motorway from Podgorica to Belgrade, and that its completion is expected by December 2027.

Montenegro has lost a lot of time through its own fault and this Government wants to try to make up for that time. One of the most important roads is the one that connects Sarajevo and Podgorica, and our goal is to start the construction of the bridge on Tara as soon as possible, as well as the construction of the section of the Foča-Šćepan Polje road. Also, the bypass around Podgorica is very important, in order to relieve the city center, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

The Prime Minister pointed out that one of the Government's commitments is the development of a green economy and the use of Montenegro's energy potential.

The two naturally abundant resources that Montenegro has are a high number of sunny days and natural wind flow in certain areas, which represents an exceptional potential for the construction of solar and wind power plants, said Prime Minister Krivokapić.

Prime Minister Krivokapić emphasised that they expect support from the EBRD for the implementation of these projects.

EBRD Vice President Bowman said that he was happy to be in Montenegro, emphasising that the country is an important partner for the EBRD, which is a major investor in this area. He said that the EBRD supports Montenegro, especially when it comes to greening the economy, and that they are committed to financing several renewable energy projects. Bowman pointed out that Montenegro has incredible solar and wind potential and that it is necessary to use it.
