PMQs - PM Krivokapić: Leposavić expressed his personal opinion, he was not entitled to that
Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić said that he did not agree that Minister Vladimir Leposavić's opinion whether genocide happened in Srebrenica was expressed as an expert opinion. Kriviokapić points out that this is his personal opinion on the issue that divides the Montenegrin public, which he was asked in the Parliament, adding that had enough time to think about the answer.
In the case of expressing his opinion on the issue that most sensitively divides the public, he answered the question that has been posed maliciously to members of the Government and to the part of the ruling majority, as a so-called burning issue, which essentially has nothing to do with Montenegro. The persistent issue of Srebrenica has to do only with manipulation and the desire for someone to distance themselves from it or fall into deliberately set traps.
Answering the question of MP Strahinja Bulajić from the MP Group Democratic Front – New Serb Democracy, Democratic People's Party, United Montenegro and Labour Party, Krivokapić said that it is clear that the opposition wants to stick to something in order to avoid answers about its irresponsibility, crime and corruption. He noted that the current government cannot be blamed for anything that the previous government did, not even Srebrenica, to which the paths of the then ruling DPS led in the 1990s, and who were never asked what they think about their policy of the 1990s that led to Srebrenica.
Krivokapić reiterated that Minister Leposavić did not express his expert opinion, but his personal one, to which he was not entitled.
As the Minister of Justice, Human and Minority Rights, he knows very well that he has no right to deny something that was ruled by genocidal judgments as international genocide, which is also confirmed by the Declaration of Acceptance of the Resolution of the European Parliament on Srebrenica adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro in 2009, the Prime Minister said and added that the Declaration must be respected.
Krivokapić emphasised that he sent the proposal for dismissal not only because of Leposavić's statement about whether genocide happened in Srebrenica, but also because he was not satisfied with his work.
As a responsible Prime Minister, I have no right to tolerate someone's inaction or work that does not justify the trust that I personally gave him when proposing the composition of the Government, Krivokapić said.
Krivokapić said that, as the Prime Minister, he has the right and duty to propose the removal of the member who did not perform his job properly.
