The European Forum on Disaster Risk Reduction will be held from 6 to 8 November 2024 in Budva, gathering representatives from 55 countries in Europe and Central Asia.

The 2024 European Forum provides an opportunity for political leaders, disaster risk reduction institutions, and other participants to reflect on progress in implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the roadmap for disaster risk reduction, discussing further steps to enhance disaster resilience, focusing on proactive risk management rather than just responding to disasters.

The forum will be an opportunity for ministers responsible for protection and rescue, which will be hosted by Minister of Interior Danilo Šaranović at a ministerial roundtable. After the ministerial roundtable, a press conference will be held, featuring:

- Danilo Šaranović, Minister of the Interior of Montenegro

- Kamal Kishore, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction and Head of the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR)

- Janez Lenarčič, European Commissioner for Crisis Management

- Gordon Rattray, Programme Coordinator at the European Disability Forum

We invite the media to attend the press conference, which will take place on 7 November at 12:30 PM at the Splendid Conference & Spa Resort in Budva.

Please register by sending your details to the Public Relations Officer Lahira Duraković Šulović at lahira.durakovic@mup.gov.me (contact phone +38267031822) no later than 1 November 2024.

The European Forum is organised by the Government of Montenegro, in cooperation with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
