Press release from the 54th Cabinet session
At today’s 54th session chaired by Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, the Montenegrin Cabinet adopted a Decision on the Basic and Supplementary Drug Lists to ensure the accessibility and affordability of necessary medications for all citizens.
The 2024 Financial Plan for Revenue and Expenditure of Airports of Montenegro was adopted. The plan anticipates business revenues of €40.43 million, marking a 13% increase compared to 2023. Based on forecasted air traffic volumes and airline projections, Airports of Montenegro expect to serve 13,825 flights and 2,888,502 passengers in 2024, reflecting a 15% growth from 2023. Planned expenditures for 2024 are projected at €27.78 million, an 11.9% increase from the previous year. The pre-tax profit forecast stands at €12.4 million, an 18% improvement year-on-year. Additionally, the 2024 Public Procurement Plan allocates €10.7 million for investments, including €6.9 million for capital goods and €3.7 million for operational costs, ensuring the continued stable and successful operation of the company.
The Cabinet adopted the 2024/2025 Winter Tourism Season Preparation Plan to foster collaboration across all levels, facilitating the smooth preparation and execution of the season. The plan aims to enhance the quality, volume, and financial outcomes of the tourism sector, ultimately boosting satisfaction among tourists, the tourism industry, and local communities. The document outlines specific activities for state and local authorities and the private sector to support a successful winter season. However, the northern regions still face challenges, including a lack of initiatives to organise tourist-attracting events and inadequate lodging capacity, which restrict year-round tourism potential. To address this, the Ministry of Tourism, in cooperation with the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro, has introduced incentive measures for event support, market diversification, marketing initiatives, and other enhancements. Given the reliance on ski center infrastructure, the Government is also focused on expanding product offerings to attract visitors in case of low snowfall.
The Cabinet established a Coordination Body for the Implementation of the Velje Brdo Project, headed by the Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property, Slaven Radunović. This body will oversee project coordination, including:
- Preparation of a financial analysis,
- Coordination between relevant institutions and contractors to ensure efficient implementation,
- Monitoring the use of budget funds and resources for the project, and
- Monthly reporting and providing recommendations on progress and potential risks.
