Radulović, Rinkevičs: We will intensify cooperation in the fields of tourism and economy
Minister of Foreign Affairs Đorđe Radulović met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, who is paying an official visit to Montenegro. Montenegro and Latvia, as partner countries, are developing political dialogue and are ready to intensify cooperation in the fields of tourism and economy. We especially appreciate the contribution of the Montenegrin Armed Froces in the Latvian base Ādaži - it was assessed at today's meeting.
Foreign Minister Radulović said that Montenegrin-Latvian friendship and relations are characterized by partnership and openness, as well as continuous mutual support at the bilateral and multilateral level. He added that we appreciate Latvia's strong support for our foreign policy priorities, including joint action within NATO.
Latvia, as a developed democracy that has achieved notable results in the integration process, is a role model, but also an inspiration for us to achieve our foreign policy goal - EU membership - said Minister Radulović.
The Foreign Minister conveyed Montenegro's interest in participating in the Three Seas Initiative, as an observer, assessing that European regional platforms represent a reliable model of our common European future.
Minister Rinkēvičs said that Montenegro is an important partner of Latvia, and that they especially appreciate our contribution to the enhanced Forward Presence (eFP). When it comes to the European integration, he pointed out that Latvia supports the enlargement policy, and that Montenegro is a successful example in the negotiation process. He emphasised that Montenegro will be invited as a guest at the Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, which will be held this year in Riga. He assessed that the Summit will be an opportunity to connect business communities, the civil sector and parliaments, and that it will create opportunities for deepening cooperation in the field of transport, energy and digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, the ministers discussed models for establishing direct flights between Montenegro and Latvia, which would significantly contribute to increasing tourist exchange during the summer season.
