Ranko Krivokapić was elected in 2022 as Minister of Foreign Affairs in the 43rd Government of Montenegro.
He was the 27th President of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2003 to 2016 in the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th Convocation of the Montenegrin Parliament which is the longest term in office during the 115 of the existence of the Montenegrin Parliament.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament in ten convocations since 1989, in four states (the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, and independent Montenegro).
He was elected 12 President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE PA which is the greatest international post any Montenegrin has been elected until now. Also, Krivokapić is the first Slavic person elected to this post.
He formally declared Independency of Montenegro on June 6th 2006.
After the referendum for independency, he has been elected President of the Constitutional Parliament of Montenegro. He led the commission for Constitution writing. He was the proponent of the Law on state symbols of Montenegro.
He formed the Montenegrin Caucus in the US Congress in 2013.
He is the founder of the regional initiative »Cetinje Parliamentary Forum«.
He is one of the founders of the Social democratic party of Montenegro and the Reform forces 1990 of Yugoslavia for Montenegro.
He was president of the Social Democratic Party of Montenegro (SDP) from 2001 to 2019.
He is a member of the Party of European Socialists (2009) since 2009, in more convocation.
He has been awarded with the Romanian national order, medal of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as well as many other awards.
As a Freedom House scholar, he was in US Congress for several months.
He is alumni of the »Council's transatlantic young leaders program«.
