Reforms as a magnet for investment: EBRD aims to support major Montenegrin projects
EBRD interested in increasing investments in Montenegro
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with Vice President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Matteo Patrone in Podgorica.
The central theme of the discussions was the implementation of large projects, with EBRD representatives expressing readiness to significantly participate in the Government's efforts to improve transportation connectivity, develop the energy and tourism sectors, and support the advancement of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
As Vice President Patrone emphasized, the visible results of the reform processes on Montenegro's path to EU membership are a clear invitation for the EBRD to increase its investments in the country.
Prime Minister Spajić highlighted that the second section of the highway will enable more balanced development, bringing new life to the northeastern part of the country, a view shared by the EBRD.
We fully understand how strategically important it is to open up the northeastern region to the rest of the country, and that is why we support these projects. You can count on us to continue supporting all other transportation projects as well, stated Patrone.
In addition to improved transportation connectivity, the economy will be further boosted by the reconstruction of the railway, the development of the Port of Bar, and the expansion of airport capacities, emphasized Prime Minister Spajić.
He also presented opportunities for collaboration in the energy, tourism, and agriculture sectors, highlighting the significant development potential for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially in the northern part of the country.
In this context, it was concluded that supporting SMEs is currently a key focus for the EBRD.
