WARNING – clickbait campaigns targeting social media users

Published on: Feb 20, 2025 11:44 AM

CIRT warns the public that a “clickbait” campaign is active on social media, misusing the visual identity of local information portals and public figures from Montenegro. These campaigns use sensationalist headlines and images to capture users’ attention and lure them into clicking on suspicious websites with fake content generated using artificial intelligence.

We kindly ask users to remain vigilant and follow these guidelines:

  • If you encounter this banner on social networks, do not click on it and refrain from entering personal information.
  • Avoid making payments on suspicious websites.
  • Refrain from opening links from suspicious messages on social networks.
  • Carefully read the content of messages, as phishing messages often contain grammatical errors.

Please note that a reputable institution will not request users to disclose confidential information or submit documents via social networks.

If your data is misused, you can report the incident via e-mail: kontakt@cirt.me or by filling out a form on the CIRT website: https://www.gov.me/cirt/prijavi-incident
