World Bank is an important partner of Montenegro
Deputy Prime Minister Ervin Ibrahimović met with World Bank Country Manager for Montenegro Christopher Sheldon and his associates. Mr. Sheldon congratulated Ibrahimović on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister for Regional Development and Minister of Capital Investments.
The importance of the financial and professional support of the World Bank for accelerating the economic recovery of Montenegro and achieving a better living standard of citizens shows the readiness of the World Bank to be an important partner of our country in terms of further strengthening public finances, DPM Ibrahimović said and added that there is room to futher strengthen cooperation, especially when it comes to balanced development of all Montenegrin regions.
The World Bank should be more strongly involved, especially in the issues related to structural reform measures. We need a systematic analysis and drafting of guidelines regarding the restructuring of majority state-owned companies in the field of transport, i.e. improving the efficiency of their business.
World Bank Country Manager for Montenegro Christopher Sheldon pointed out that the purpose of this visit was to get acquainted with the development priorities of the Government of Montenegro, all with the aim of drafting a new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for the period of 2022-2026.
DPM Ibrahimović said that one of the tasks of this Government and the Ministry of Capital Investments is the development of the northern region, all with the aim of balanced regional development, because there is no sustainable development of Montenegro without developed regions.
The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the results of good cooperation so far, exchange information on current projects, and identify priorities for continuing the successful cooperation between the World Bank and Montenegro.
