Visa regime

Montenegrin citizens must have a visa to enter Laos. A visa for a tourist visit can be obtained at the airport. Also, in order to stay at the border crossing for a shorter period, it is recommended to apply online on the official website of the www.laoevisa.gov.la. Upon arrival, enclose your passport and prior approval. The e-visa fee is $50.

A visa can also be obtained at the Embassy of Laos in Budapest.

Diplomatic Relations 

Montenegro and the Lao People's Democratic Republic are developing friendly relations, which we consider as good and positive.

The Lao People's Democratic Republic recognized Montenegro on August 10, 2006, and diplomatic relations were established on February 4, 2010.

On January 28, in 2020, the non-resident ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Montenegro (based in Vienna), Sithong Chitnhothinh, presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović. office.

Political Contacts

No high-level and the highest level visits have taken place, so far.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

In 2021, the trade between Montenegro and Laos amounted to 34.1 thousand. euros (also related only to imports from Laos).

According to ‘’Monstat’’, the arrival of tourists from Laos to Montenegro was not recorded.

According to the Central Bank of Montenegro, no foreign direct investment from Laos has been recorded so far.
