VISA REGIME
Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Malta for up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.
DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS
Montenegro and Malta have traditionally friendly relations which are continuously upgraded by cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral level, as well as through the project of cooperation of small European countries. Malta strongly supports Montenegro's foreign policy and EU integration.
Malta recognized Montenegro's independence on June 12, 2006, while diplomatic relations were established on July 19, 2006.
The Embassy of Montenegro in Rome is in charge of the diplomatic representation of Montenegro in the Republic of Malta, on a non-resident basis. It currently operates at the level of charge d'affaires a.i.
Ambassador of Malta to Montenegro, on a non-resident basis, stationed in Valletta (MFA of Malta), Karl Izzo, assumed the duty on January 15, 2016.

ECONOMIC COOPERATION
In 2020, the total trade commodity exchange with Malta amounted to EUR 884 thousand, out of which amounted to EUR 7 thousand worth imports and EUR 877 thousand worth of exports. Trade in 2019 amounted to EUR 460 thousand and relates mainly to exports.
In 2020, there were 70 tourists from Malta tourists who visited Montenegro, and this resulted in total 168 overnight stays. In 2019, Montenegro was visited by 546 Maltese tourists, who spent 2,752 overnights.
