VISA REGIME
Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Moldova for up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.
DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS
Relations between Montenegro and Moldova are friendly, but certainly there are numerous possibilities for their further improvement through strengthening the political dialogue.
On 21 June 2006 Moldova recognized the independence of Montenegro. The two countries established diplomatic relations on 12 March 2007.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the Republic of Moldova, with residence in Bucharest is Goran Poleksić (assumed office in June 2019).
Th Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Chisinau, headed by Andrei Stratan was opened on 26 October 2016.
OFFICIAL VISITS
On 4 April 2017, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Srdjan Darmanović paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova. On that occasion he had talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Galbur and Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
On 27-28 October 2008, Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova during which he met with the President of the State Vladimir Voronin, Prime Minister Zinaid Greceani and Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu.
On 25 June 2008, Foreign Minister of Montenegro Milan Roćen paid an official visit to the Republic of Moldova during which he met with the President of the Republic of Macedonia Vladimir Voronin, Prime Minister Zinaida Greceani, Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan.
ECONOMIC COOPERATION
In 2019, total trade turnover amounted to 370,016.44 EUR, of which 368,846 EUR related to the import of goods from Moldova, and the remaining 1,170 EUR to the export.
