Visas

Bilateral Relations/Diplomatic Relations Overview

Montenegro and the Kingdom of Morocco develop their bilateral relations, traditionally, in the spirit of friendship and understanding. Mutual interest has been expressed towards the advancement of the cooperation in all areas that are reevant to both sides.

The Kingdom of Morocco officially recognized Montenegro on the 30th of June 2006, and the diplomatic relations were established on the 8th of September 2009.

Mohammed Amine Belhaj took office of the Ambassador of the Morocco, with the residence in Belgrade, on the 8th of February 2017. The first Ambassador of Morocco, Abdellah Zegour, had previously taken office in 2012 (also residing in Belgrade).

Political Contacts

High level political contacts are frequent and regular.

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović visited Morocco in 2014, as well as in 2016.

President of the Parliament of Montenegro Ivan Brajović paid an official visit to Morocco between 17th and 19th of September 2017, after an invitation by the President of the House of the Representatives of Morocco. President of the House of the Representatives of Morocco, Habib el Malki, visited Podgorica in June of 2018.

A formal invitation for the Foreign Minister of Montenegro Đorđe Radulović, to pay a visit to Morocco, has been conveyed.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

Overall exchange of goods and services in 2021 (January – October) amounted to €1,753,926 (out of which the exports were €770,663, and the imports were €983,263); overall exchange of goods and services in 2020 amounted to €293,456 (out of which the exports were €474, and the imports were €292,982).

Overview of other information 

The basis for the cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs is the Protocol on the Cooperation between the MFA of Montenegro and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the International Co-Operation of the Kingdom of Morocco, which was signed on the 31st of March 2010. Agreement Between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of Morocco on the Cooperation in the Field of Tourism was signed on the 18th of September 2018.
