Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Palestine for up to 30 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.
Bilateral Relations/Diplomatic Relations Overview
Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Palestine are friendly, based on respect, mutual understanding and the principles of openness.
The Government of the State of Palestine recognized the independence of Montenegro on July 24, 2006. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on August 1, 2006.
The State of Palestine opened its Embassy in Montenegro, and the first resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro, Rabii Alnantouli, took office in October 2016. The non-resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, Adham Mustafa A. Abomadalala, served in the period 2008-2016.
On August 1, 2019, Ambassador Milorad Šćepanović presented his credentials to the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and thus became the first Ambassador of Montenegro to Palestine, on a non-resident basis (based in Moscow).
Political Contacts
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Srdjan Darmanović, paid an official visit to Ramallah on July 17, 2018.
In the period from 3 to 5 October 2010, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Milan Roćen, paid his first official visit to the State of Palestine.
The former President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić, paid an official visit to Palestine on March 15, 2010, when he met with the Prime Minister of Palestine, Salam Fayed.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki paid an official visit to Montenegro on February 25, 2010, the first by a Palestinian official to Montenegro.
Political dialogue also taking place on the sidelines of international gatherings and conferences.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Đordje Radulović, had a bilateral meeting with the Head of Diplomacy of the State of Palestine, Riyad al-Maliki, on November 29, 2021, on the sidelines of the VI Regional Forum of the Union for the Mediterranean.
Economic Cooperation / International Trade
The "Arab Business Forum" was held in Podgorica on October 18, 2018, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and the Embassy of Palestine in Podgorica. The Arab delegation was represented by about 40 renowned businessmen from Palestine, Jordan, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and Iraq, as well as representatives of Canada.
Foreign direct investment from Palestine, in 2019, amounted to 450 thousand €.
