Visas

Nationals of Montenegro are required to obtain a visa to enter Qatar.
A visa may be obtained upon arrival for stay up to 30 days.
For travelers flying with QATAR Airways, the visa is free of charge.

Bilateral Relations/Diplomatic Relations Overview

Montenegro and the State of Qatar have good and traditionally friendly bilateral relations, which are based on respect, mutual understanding and the principles of openness.

The State of Qatar recognized Montenegro on September 26, 2006. Diplomatic relations were established on November 16, 2006.

Montenegrin ambassadors to the UAE are accredited to the State of Qatar on a non-resident basis. Aleksandar Eraković served as Ambassador of Montenegro to the State of Qatar on a non-resident basis in the period 2012-2015, and Darko Uskoković in the period 2015-2018.

Ambassador Faris Roumi Mohammed Shaheen Al-Naimi took over as the non-resident ambassador of the State of Qatar to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, in January 2022. His predecessor Ambassador Sheikh Mubarak Bin Fahad Al Thani hold thi duty from 2017 to 2021.  The first non-resident ambassador of Qatar to Montenegro, based in Rome, Soltan Saad Al-Moraikhi, served in the period 2008-2017.

Political Contacts

The two countries are developing regular dialogue at the working level, as well as on the sidelines of international gatherings and conferences.

The Prime Minister of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, accompanied by a delegation, consisting of Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen and Minister for Economic Development Branimir Gvozdenović, paid his first official visit to the State of Qatar on 16 and 17 February 2009.

On June 17, 2010, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Yassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, paid a visit to Montenegro, where he had meetings with top Montenegrin officials.
