Visa regime

Nationals of Montenegro may enter, pass through and stay in Sweden for up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

Diplomatic relations

Sweden recognized the independence of Montenegro on June 14th 2006 and diplomatic relations were established on June 26th 2006.

Political relations between Montenegro and Sweden are friendly and are based on the principles of openness, cooperation in many areas and support, especially in the field of European integration. Sweden, like other Scandinavian EU member states, supports enlargement policy.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, is Jan Lundin (he took office on July 26th 2016).

Official visits

President of Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden Urban Olin paid an official visit to Montenegro from February 25th-26th 2015.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro Igor Lukšić paid an official visit to Sweden on March 5th 2013.

President of Parliament of Montenegro Ranko Krivokapić paid an official visit to Sweden from December 14th-16th 2011.
