Diplomatic relations

The Republic of Ecuador recognized Montenegro on 26 September 2009. Diplomatic relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Ecuador were established on the same day (Foreign Ministers Milan Rocen and Fander Falconi Benitez signed the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, on the sidelines of the 64th session of the UN General Assembly).

Ecuador covers Montenegro on a non-resident basis, from the Embassy in Rome. Ambassador Nelson Francisco Robelly Lozada received the agreement on June 3, 2019.
