Holders of travel documents with a valid Schengen visa, a valid visa from the United States, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland, as well as residence permits from those countries, may enter and stay in, or transit through, the territory of Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of their visa if the validity period is shorter than 30 days.

Visa regime

Nationals of Kuwait may enter, pass through the territory of and stay in Montenegro up to 90 days, with a valid travel document, without a visa.

Diplomatic Relations

Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Kuwait are traditionally good and friendly and are based on respect, mutual understanding and the principles of openness.

The State of Kuwait recognized Montenegro on July 27, 2010, when diplomatic relations were established.

The first non-resident Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Montenegro, stationed in Belgrade, Fawzi Abdulazis Al-Jasem, assumed the duty on 15 February 2013.

Yusuf Ahmed Abdulsamad, non-resident Ambassador of Kuwait to Montenegro,  (stationed in Belgrade), presented his credentials to the former President Filip Vujanović on June 26, 2015.

On July 13, 2019, the Agrément was approved for the new Ambassador of Montenegro to the State of Kuwait, Dušanka Jeknić.

On March 21, 2016, the  non-resident Ambassador of Montenegro to Kuwait (stationed in Abu Dhabi), Darko Uskoković, presented letters of credence to the Ruler of the State of Kuwait Emir Sabah IV Ahmad Al-Jaber-Sabah and performed the duty until September 2018, i.e. until the expiration of his term as a resident Ambassador to the UAE.

Political Contacts

At the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah, Ambassador Milorad Šćepanović paid a study visit to Kuwait from 14 to 20 April 2012 - as part of the UN World Group in New York.  At this occasion, he had meetings with Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al Jarallah, and with Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Ahmad Abdu Aziz Al Sadoun and his deputy.

A delegation of the 5th Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait, led by President Faisal Fahad Al Shay, visited Montenegro on September 16, 2015 and met with President Filip Vujanovic, Parliament Speaker Ranko Krivokapic and members of the Committee on International Affairs. relations and emigrants in the Parliament of Montenegro.

On September 28, 2012, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nebojsa Kaludjerovic had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

Total commodity exchange with the State of Kuwait in the period January - September 2020 amounted to 14.95 thousand. €, of which imports were 14.11 thousand. €, and exports 0.84 thousand. €. In 2019, commodity exchange amounted to 11.45 thousand. €, of which imports were 10.2 thousand. €, and exports 1.25 thousand. €.

Foreign direct investments from the State of Kuwait: in 2020 (January - September) amounted to 337.8 thousand. €; in 2019 they amounted to 191.97 thousand. €.
