Kyrgyzstan*

Holders of travel documents with a valid Schengen visa, a valid visa from the United States, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland, as well as residence permits from those countries, may enter and stay in, or transit through, the territory of Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of their visa if the validity period is shorter than 30 days.

Visa regime

Nationals of the Kyrgyz Republic are required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro.

Visas may be obtained from diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro.

Diplomatic relations

On June 24, 2009, the Kyrgyz Republic recognized Montenegro as an independent and sovereign state, when diplomatic relations were established by exchanging diplomatic notes.

Bilateral relations can be rated as friendly and good. Although bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and the Kyrgyz two countries has not been framed by official visits and signed bilateral agreements, two sides has identified mutual interest in many fields of cooperation. In that sense, two countries have mutually initiated the harmonization of several bilateral agreements, on which finalization they are actively working on.  

Montenegro and the Kyrgyz Republic officialy represented to the other country on a non-resident basis, through their Embassies in Moscow, Russian Federation.

Official visits

There were neither high-level incoming, nor outgoing visits.

Encounters on the margins

June 2021 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Đorđe Radulović met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ruslan Kazakbayev, on the margins of Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

May 16, 2011 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting "Global Governance and Security Council Reform" in Rome.

December 2, 2009 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Kadyrbek Telmanovich Sarbayev on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Conference in Athens.

December 4, 2008 - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ednan Karabayev on the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Conference in Helsinki.

Economic cooperation

In 2022 trade exchange between Montenegro and the Kyrgyz Republic amounted to 1,16 thousand EUR in export and 645,87 thousands EUR in import. 

Foreign direct investments in 2022 form Kyrgyz Republic to Montenegro amounted 955,66 thousand EUR, outflow to Kyrgyz Republic 500 thousands EUR.
