Laos*

Holders of travel documents with a valid Schengen visa, a valid visa from the United States, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland, as well as residence permits from those countries, may enter and stay in, or transit through, the territory of Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of their visa if the validity period is shorter than 30 days.

Visa regime

Nationals of Laos are required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro.

Visas may be obtained from diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro. If you are unable to reach a diplomatic or consular post of Montenegro, you may apply for a visa at the nearest diplomatic or consular post of the Republic of Serbia.

Diplomatic Relations

Montenegro and the Lao People's Democratic Republic are developing friendly relations, which we consider as good and positive.

The Lao People's Democratic Republic recognized Montenegro on August 10, 2006, and diplomatic relations were established on February 4, 2010.

On January 28, in 2020, the non-resident ambassador of the Lao People's Democratic Republic  to Montenegro (based in Vienna), Sithong Chitnhothinh, presented his credentials to the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović, thus taking office.

Political Contacts

No high-level and the highest level visits have taken place, so far.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

Foreign trade between Montenegro and Laos in 2020 referred exclusively to imports in the amount of  17,650 €, while exports were completely absent. Direct investments from the Lao People's Democratic Republic were not recorded in 2020. 

According to "Monstat", the presence of tourists from Laos in Montenegro was not recorded during 2020.
