Palestine*

Holders of travel documents with a valid Schengen visa, a valid visa from the United States, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the Republic of Ireland, as well as residence permits from those countries, may enter and stay in, or transit through, the territory of Montenegro for up to 30 days, but no longer than the expiration of their visa if the validity period is shorter than 30 days.

Nationals of Palestine are required to obtain a visa to enter Montenegro.

Visas may be obtained from diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro. If you are unable to reach a diplomatic or consular post of Montenegro, you may apply for a visa at the nearest diplomatic or consular post of the Republic of Serbia.

Diplomatic Relations

Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the State of Palestine are friendly, based on respect, mutual understanding and the principles of openness.

The Government of the State of Palestine recognized the independence of Montenegro on July 24, 2006. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on August 1, 2006.

The first non-resident Ambassador of Palestine to Montenegro, Adham Mustafa A. Abomadalala, assumed the duty as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, stationed in Belgrade, on January 21, 2008 - by presenting credentials to former Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic.

On October 10, 2016, Rabii Alnantouli, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Montenegro, presented his credentials to the former President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, and thus officially assumed the duty.

Ambassador Milorad Šćepanović presented credentials to the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, on August 1, 2019, and thus became the first non-resident Ambassador of Montenegro to Palestine, (stationed in Moscow).

Political Contacts

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Srdjan Darmanović, paid an official visit to Ramallah on July 17, 2018. In addition to meeting with Prime Minister Rami Hamdalah, he also had a meeting with Palestinian President's adviser Nabil Shat and chief negotiator Saeb Erakat.

On September 23, 2017, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs Srdjan Darmanović met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine Riyad al-Malki, on the sidelines of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.

In the period from 3 to 5 October 2010, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro, Milan Roćen, paid his first official visit to the State of Palestine.

The former President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Ranko Krivokapić, paid an official visit to Palestine on March 15, 2010, when he met with the Prime Minister of Palestine, Salam Fayed.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki paid an official visit to Montenegro on February 25, 2010, the first visit by a Palestinian official to Montenegro.

Economic Cooperation / International Trade

The "Arab Business Forum" was held in Podgorica on October 18, 2018, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and the Embassy of Palestine in Podgorica. The Arab delegation was represented by about 40 prominent businessmen from Palestine, Jordan, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey and Iraq, as well as representatives of Canada. The forum included various areas - finance, energy, real estate, investments, industry, trade, tourism and health.

Foreign direct investments from Palestine, in 2019, amounted to 450 thousand. €.
