Diplomatic relations
The Republic of Albania officially recognized Montenegro on July the 12th , 2006, while diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on August the 1st , 2006.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to Montenegro, Ridi Kurtezi, assumed his duty on October 15th , 2018.

On December the 11th 2017, the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović paid an official visit to the Republic of Albania.
On January the 10th 2017 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro prof. Dr. Srđan Darmanovic paid an official visit to the Republic of Albania.

On March the 8th , 2019, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania Gent Cakaj paid an official visit to Montenegro.
On January 20-22nd 2019, the President of the Republic of Albania, Illir Meta, paid an official visit to Montenegro.
On April the 3rd , 2017, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania, Edi Rama, paid an official visit to Montenegro.
Other encounters
On December 20-21st 2019, the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, participated at the meeting of the leaders of the Western Balkan countries on the issue of accelerating the four EU freedoms (the so-called "Mini Schengen"), which was held in Tirana.
On May 8-9th 2019, the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović participated at the meeting of leaders of the countries participating in the Brdo - Brioni Process, held in Tirana, upon the joint invitation of the Presidents of Albania, Croatia and Slovenia, Ilir Meta, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović and Borut Pahor.
On February 15-16th 2019, the President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović had a separate bilateral meeting with the President of the Republic of Albania Ilir Meta, within the Munich Security Conference.
