Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Armenia
Montenegro and Armenia maintain traditionally friendly relations. There is a potentialand mutual interest in the development of stronger trade and economic relations and cooperation in fields of culture, education, science and tourism, by enhancing contractual basis.
DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS
On 14 June 2006, the Republic of Armenia recognized the independence of Montenegro.
On 7 November 2006, Montenegro and the Republic of Armenia. established diplomatic relations.
On 1 November 2019, the non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Montenegro, with the seat in Prague, H.E. Ashot Hovakimian, assumed office.
In September 2020, the Government of Montenegro appointed Dragica Ponorac as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the Republic of Armenia, with the seat in Kyiv.
OFFICIAL VISITS
On 20 January 2016, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Edward Nalbandian, paid his first official visit to Montenegro and met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić and the President of the Assembly, Ranko Krivokapić.
6-7 May 2013, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Igor Lukšić paid a first official visit to the Republic of Armenia and on that occasion met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and President of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan.
ECONOMIC COOPERATION
In 2019, the total trade exchange amounted to 2.7 thousand euros, and referred only to the import. In 2019, FDI from Armenia amounted to 123,000 EUR.
