Honorary Consul of Montenegro in Brasil
Diplomatic relations
The Federal Republic of Brazil recognized Montenegro on June 14, 2006, while diplomatic relations were established on October 20, 2006. The two countries are nourishing good bilateral co-operation. Eduardo Botelho Barbosa became the Ambassador of Brazil to Montenegro, based in Belgrade, on May 13, 2019, and in February 2020, Srđan Stanković became the Ambassador of Montenegro to Brazil, based in Buenos Aires. The Honorary Consulate of Montenegro in Sao Paulo, headed by Honorary Consul Marko Brajović, was opened on May 23, 2016.
The overall relations between Montenegro and Brazil can be assessed as friendly, and there are no open issues.
Official visits
There have been no official visits since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Other meetings:
On May 28, 2010, Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Celso Amorim, during the annual Ministerial Meeting of the Alliance of Civilizations, in Rio de Janeiro.
In September 2008, Foreign Minister Milan Rocen met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim on the sidelines of the 63rd session of the UN General Assembly.
Economic indicators
During 2020, trade amounted to EUR 8.39 million (8,372,000 imports and 11,000 exports). During 2019, trade amounted to 9.8 mil. € (export € 25,000 and import € 9,787,000). Trade in 2018 amounted to € 7,733,802 (exports € 18,464, imports € 7,715.338 million - which is 19% less than imports in 2017).
