Montenegro and Greece have traditionally friendly relations that were established during the Principality of Montenegro. The first diplomatic mission of Greece was opened from 1881 to 1883, headed by Alexander Logotetis, who was the consul general in Cetinje. The Greek consulate was reopened in 1896, and was headed by Evgenije Evgenijades from 1909 to 1916.
Political relations between Montenegro and Greece are based on the principles of openness, continuous cooperation in many areas and mutual support at the regional and international level. The two countries share foreign policy priorities, successfully cooperate within NATO structures, and since the Montenegrin independence, Greece has provided continuous support to our country in the context of European integration.
Diplomatic relations
Greece officially recognized Montenegro on June 14, 2006. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on December 18, 2006.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Greece is Ana Vukadinović (assumed this duty on September 26, 2018).
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Montenegro is Panayotis Partsos (assumed this duty on December 10, 2019).
The Honorary Consul of Montenegro, based in Thessaloniki, Central Macedonia, is Vasilios Apostolopoulos (assumed this duty on December 17, 2020).
