DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Relations between Montenegro and Poland are excellent and are based on the principles of friendship, openness, mutual support at the regional and international level, and in addition, cooperation within the NATO alliance is not accepted. Poland is committed to the political enlargements of the European Union in the Western Balkans and continuously supports and provides assistance to Montenegro on the path of European integration, both at the political and expert level.

The Republic of Poland officially recognized the independence of Montenegro on June 20, 2006. Diplomatic relations were established on August 14, 2006.

The Embassy of Montenegro in Warsaw currently operates at the level of charge d'affaires a.i.

Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Artur Dmohovski, assumed the duty of the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Montenegro on September 6, 2018, by presenting her credentials to the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.

BILATERAL MEETINGS 

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Srđan Darmanović, PhD, paid an official visit to Poland, 8-9 October 2017.

Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, Darko Pajović, paid an official visit to Poland, 29-30 August 2016.

Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski paid an official visit to Montenegro, 24-25 May 2016.

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic paid an official visit to Poland, 13-14 May 2014.

Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk paid an official visit to Montenegro on May 5, 2011.

ECONOMIC COOPERATION

In 2020, the total commodity exchange with Poland amounted to EUR 49 million out of which EUR 12 million worth exports, and EUR 37 million worth of imports. In 2019, the total commodity exchange with Poland amounted to EUR 63 million out of which EUR 13 million worth of exports, and EUR 49 million worth of imports.

In 2020, Poland's direct investments in Montenegro amounted to EUR 3.4 million. In 2019, direct investments amounted to EUR 7.01 million.

In 2020, there were 2,763 tourists from Poland who visited Montenegro, and this resulted in total 7,560 overnight stays. In 2019, there were 47,743 tourists from Poland who visited Montenegro, and this resulted 188,031 overnights stays.
