Diplomatic relations
Slovakia recognized Montenegro's independence on June 13, 2006. Diplomatic relations were established on July 25, 2006.
Relations between Montenegro and the Slovak Republic are characterized by excellent and meaningful cooperation, and the frequency of political contacts is a confirmation of an exceptional mutual partnership. Slovakia strongly and continuously supports the European integration of Montenegro, both at the political and expert level.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to the Slovak Republic, based in Vienna, is Željko Perović (took office on December 5, 2018).
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Montenegro is Boris Gandel (he took office on May 19, 2020).
Bilateral meetings
24–26. January 2017: Minister of Foreign Affairs prof. Dr. Srdjan Darmanovic paid an official visit to Slovakia.
9-10. February 2021: The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia, Ivan Korčok, paid an official visit to Montenegro.
7-8. May 2019: The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia and the Chairman of the OSCE Miroslav Lajčák paid a visit to Montenegro.
