Abazović: Functional and efficient changes are key for the current state in the Prosecutor's Office
The Government of Montenegro organised the second debate on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office.
At the opening of the second debate, the introductory speech was delivered by Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović, who stated that the public debate on the Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office continues and that the dynamics of the debate has increased many times these days. In that sense, DPM Abazović emphasised that it is important to involve the public as much as possible, adding that active talks are being conducted with European partners, opposition parties, and that the Office of the President of Montenegro expressed interest in this process. Deputy Prime Minister Abazović said that almost all political entities, relevant representatives of the civil sector, professional public, international organisations took part in the debate, and that some of them gave constructive proposals and suggestions, some of which have already been incorporated into the Draft Law.
Abazović pointed out that functional and efficient amendments to the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office are key for the current state in the Prosecutor's Office and that his personal impression is that there is a consensus that a change is needed in the Prosecutor's Office, and that modalities are a matter of discussion.
