Abazović meets with Presker: Loudest critics of amendements to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office are those who are directly and indirectly affected by the smooth functioning of the Prosecuto

Deputy Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with Ambassador of Slovenia to Montenegro Gregor Presker and Slovenia's Defence Attaché, Captain Boris Geršak.

Noting that Montenegro and Slovenia have no open issues, DPM Abazović expressed satisfaction with the meeting and stated that the meeting was an opportunity to confirm good cooperation between the two countries at all levels. DPM Abazović thanked Ambassador Presker for the support that Montenegro constantly receives from Slovenia on its path to the European Union, emphasising that Slovenia's support was meaningful during Montenegro's accession to the Alliance.

The Deputy Prime Minister spoke with Ambassador Presker about the current amendments to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, adding that the loudest critics are those who are directly and indirectly affected by the smooth functioning of the Prosecutor's Office and the uncompromising fight against organized crime and corruption in Montenegro. DPM Abazović pointed out that the aforementioned amendments are of great importance for Montenegro, noting that progress in Chapters 23 and 24 is the key to progress on Montenegro's European path. Deputy Prime Minister Abazović stressed that progress in Chapters 23 and 24 isn't possible without amendments to the Law on the Prosecutor's Office.

Ambassador Presker stated that Slovenia remains committed to the development of relations between the two countries at all levels and stressed that Montenegro will always have open and concrete support from Slovenia on its path to the European Union.

The meeting was an opportunity for DPM Abazović, Ambassador Presker and Captain Geršak to discuss the challenges facing Montenegro and Slovenia as NATO members, the importance of fostering good neighbourly cooperation in the Western Balkans, improving bilateral cooperation and global challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
