Encouraging results in the fight against corruption will ensure economic and integration progress
Prime Minister Dritan Abazović met today with Ambassador of Slovenia to Montenegro Gregor Presker. Encouraging results in the fight against corruption will ensure visible economic and integration progress. We are open for investments and we expect an increased political and economic presence of our Western partners in the region, said the Prime Minister.
PM Abazović emphasised that, bearing in mind that Slovenia is strategically important for Montenegro and one of the key partners in the field of development cooperation, our country wants more intensive economic activity and to strengthen relations with Slovenia in order to promote Montenegro as an attractive country for investment and a safe tourist destination for the citizens of Slovenia.
I welcome the inclusiveness of the Montenegrin government, which should reduce polarization in society. Montenegro is capable of conducting political dialogue, and the progress of your country in reforms and integration will mean an incentive for other countries in the region, but also an additional impetus for the stability of the Western Balkans, said Ambassador Presker.
Prime Minister Abazović pointed out that the EU integration process for Montenegro has no alternative. The Government is firmly determined to persevere in reform activities, in order to complete the process of accession negotiations and become the first next member of the EU, PM Abazović pointed out.
Speaking about domestic policy, Prime Minister Abazović pointed out that a democratic political dialogue is necessary, which will lead our country to unblocking institutions and the negotiation process with the EU.
The officials agreed that Montenegro and the Republic of Slovenia have excellent relations and cooperation in all areas, adding that the two countries share a common European perspective and commitment to the Euro-Atlantic values. It was stated that the two countries have great cooperation in the field of defence and internal affairs, and that they share the same values and commitment to collective security, stability and peace.
