Bečić meets with Hungary's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Zsolt Bunford
Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić met with Hungary’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Zsolt Bunford.
Bečić expressed satisfaction with meeting the senior Hungarian representative, acknowledging Hungary as one of the foremost advocates for EU enlargement to the Western Balkans.
Montenegro and Hungary foster traditional friendship and partnership. We are grateful for Hungary's ongoing support for our integration processes. This commitment is demonstrated by your current presidency of the Council of EU, and the expected closure of four negotiation chapters by the end of the year will be further confirmation, as well as a recognition of the remarkable progress and reforms Montenegro has made on its European path. The achievement of the historic IBAR, along with the anticipated closure of four chapters by year-end, underscores that this is by far Montenegro's most successful year since the start of its EU negotiation process, stated the Deputy Prime Minister.
He highlighted the significant achievements of Montenegro’s 44th Government over the past year, describing them as clear evidence of the country's dedication to seizing this major European opportunity, with the goal of becoming the EU’s 28th member by 2028 coming ever closer to realization.
Our Government’s mission is clear and unambiguous: to accelerate EU integration, decisively combat organised crime and corruption, strengthen a rule-of-law-based civil state, and enhance citizens' economic and social wellbeing. The stabilization of Montenegro’s political landscape and the formation of a government with broad support from almost all national parties, backed by a two-thirds majority in Parliament, have laid the foundation for numerous successes and reforms, Bečić concluded.
Mr. Bunford praised the results achieved by Montenegro's 44th Government, highlighting its seriousness, commitment to reform processes and progress towards European integration goals.
The Government of Montenegro is achieving remarkable progress on its European path, especially in the areas of security and political-economic reforms. Stay courageous on this path, and Hungary is ready to provide you with full support in reaching all your reform goals. We remain a reliable partner on your EU journey, contributing to your economic progress by bringing strategic companies into your country, said Bunford, reaffirming Hungary’s strong support for Montenegro's continued development.
