Building bridges for development: Montenegro's collaboration with BWA
The Government of Montenegro aims to attract credible investors from partner countries, and the opening of the Representation Office of the Federal Association for Economic Development and Foreign Trade (BWA) from Germany will help in building bridges with the German economy.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met with BWA leaders in Berlin, emphasising that there is a significant interest among companies for investments in Montenegro.
As a result, an office will be opened in Herceg Novi in June, and a large delegation of German business representatives will visit Montenegro. BWA gathers around 10,000 companies and is represented in over 100 countries.
The idea is to increase foreign direct investments and enable larger projects. Essentially, we want to attract companies willing to invest in Montenegro and assist them. We believe that showcasing the full potential of Montenegro through concrete, successful projects is the best approach. Currently, we see tremendous interest from companies in becoming part of the Montenegrin market, and one of the reasons is the very accessible price of electricity, which is highly significant, emphasised Pavle Miković, Executive Director of the BWA representation office in Montenegro.
Prime Minister Spajić highlighted that removing business barriers is one of the government's goals, with reducing fixed labour costs being crucial in this context.
We aim to create the best conditions for economic development, intending to become a regional hub for companies looking to invest in the Western Balkans. One of the main priorities of this government is to link Montenegro's economy with the European Union, and building bridges with Germany is of great importance, stated the Prime Minister.
With 20 years of business experience, BWA gathers companies from various sectors.
During the meeting, the delegation led by CEO Urs Unkauf expressed particular interest in cooperation in agriculture, energy, and the development of artificial intelligence.
Discussions also covered significant projects, such as the opening of new airports in Montenegro, with German investors already showing interest in these endeavors.
