Consular Affairs

Consular activities are related to protection of rights and interests of Montenegro, its citizens and legal entities abroad, developing ties with Montenegrin citizens who work and live in other countries.

In the consular domain are important topics for state boarder of Montenegro, expert cooperation with other state bodies in respect to the international – law assistance; preparation and leading negotiations for concluding of international agreements in the field of consular relations and other areas; consular protection of our citizens’ interests abroad and foreign citizens in Montenegro, as well as monitoring visa politic and its implementation in diplomatic and consular network.

Consular affairs include monitor of Directorate for Diaspora and work with diaspora; mediating in providing of international legal aid between Montenegrin and foreign judiciary, administrative and other state bodies in civil, criminal and administrative processes; monitoring and analysis of consular relations with other countries; cooperation with diplomatic and consular missions of countries which have been accredited in Montenegro; issuing of diplomatic and official passports, then diplomatic privileges and immunities of persons who have been accredited in Montenegro, as well as work of Honorary Consuls of Montenegro abroad and coordination of affairs in respect to establishing and developing consular relations with other countries.
