Day of Mourning in Montenegro following tragedy in Kočani
At a teleconference session held on 16 March 2025, the Montenegrin Cabinet, with the consent of the majority of its members, adopted a decision to declare 17 March 2025 a national day of mourning in response to the tragic event in Kočani, North Macedonia.
We have received the news of the tragic event in Kočani with deep sorrow. The Government of Montenegro stands ready to support the friendly people of North Macedonia in any way necessary during this difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a swift recovery to those injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with North Macedonia, stated Prime Minister Milojko Spajić in his official message of condolence.
In accordance with the Law on State Symbols and the Day of Statehood, national flags will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings, as well as on the buildings of local government bodies and public institutions.
As stipulated by the decision, public, cultural, and entertainment events will not be held on the day of mourning, and music will not be played in hospitality establishments.
Electronic and other media are required to adjust their programming to appropriately observe the day of mourning.
