Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović meets with think tank representatives in Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović engaged in discussions with representatives of leading think tanks in Brussels on the topic of EU integration at an event organized by the Europeum Institute for European Policy.

The discussion focused on Montenegro’s progress in the EU accession process, key reforms, and the country’s ambition to accelerate integration by concluding accession negotiations by the end of 2026 and achieving full membership by the end of 2028.

Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović reaffirmed Montenegro’s unwavering commitment to reforms in the areas of the rule of law, economic governance, institutional resilience, and other critical aspects, all of which are strengthened through the country’s alignment with the EU acquis across 33 negotiation chapters. He underscored the importance of political stability, adherence to the roadmap agreed upon with the European Commission, and the continuation of legislative activities, which marked the past year as the most successful in Montenegro’s EU accession negotiations to date.

Participants exchanged views on the dynamics of EU enlargement and the significance of continuous cooperation with European partners, ensuring no setbacks that could undermine the trust and credibility built thus far.

This meeting was part of a broader agenda during the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Brussels, which included discussions with senior EU officials, Members of the European Parliament, and representatives of EU member states.
