DPM Bečić congratulates Ursula von der Leyen on her re-election as President of the European Commission

I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Ursula von der Leyen on her re-election as President of the European Commission. When we strongly supported Ms. von der Leyen's candidacy for a new term at the European People's Party (EPP) Congress in March in Bucharest, we were confident that she would succeed, which I personally conveyed to her during our discussion. It is a particular pleasure that immediately after Montenegro received IBAR, the re-election of Ms. von der Leyen and Mr. Metsola to the top positions of key European institutions followed. Their strategic approach ensures continued focus on enlargement policy and accelerates Montenegro's European path, making our country inevitably the next EU member.

The election of the esteemed President for a second five-year term is a recognition of her dedicated work and vision for the European Union.

Her commitment to EU enlargement, which she views as a moral, historical, and political responsibility, instills hope and optimism for the future of Montenegro. We believe that her leadership will facilitate a progressive path towards European integration and EU membership, which is the goal our country aspires to achieve.

Confident that her term will be marked by successes and that we will together build a free and prosperous future for the European family, I once again extend my sincere congratulations to Ms. von der Leyen and wish her much success in her future endeavors.
