DPM Koprivica meets with Ambassador of Bulgaria to Montenegro
Deputy Prime Minister for Political System, Judiciary, and Anti-Corruption, Momo Koprivica, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Montenegro, H.E. Stefan Dimitrov.
Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica extended a warm welcome to the Ambassador and expressed gratitude for Bulgaria's support to Montenegro, emphasising the historical ties between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica emphasised that the goals of the 44th Government include the rule of law and European progress. He highlighted significant achievements, such as crucial judicial appointments, the adoption of reform laws in anti-corruption and money laundering, and a sustainable agreement on the census. Stressing the importance of consensus and dialogue for EU integration reform and the manifestation of institutional democratic maturity, Deputy Prime Minister Koprivica underscored the completion of judicial appointments, particularly the appointment of a Supreme State Prosecutor. He expressed a firm belief that any obstruction would not compromise the Parliament's demonstrated ability to achieve national consensus regarding the appointment of top judicial officials, emphasising the pivotal role of appointing the Supreme State Prosecutor.
The Ambassador congratulated the Government on achieved results and stated that Bulgaria supports the 'merit-based' principle regarding EU accession, believing that Montenegro can be a positive example in the Western Balkans. He pointed out Bulgaria's potential to significantly assist Montenegro and stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations at the ministerial level, with tangible opportunities for increased economic collaboration.
In conclusion, the Ambassador expressed sincere confidence that if Montenegro continues on its current path, there is a significant possibility of completing the EU accession process before 2030.
Both parties reaffirmed the good relations between Bulgaria and Montenegro, rooted in historical and cultural ties, expressing a mutual desire to deepen cooperation and joint political action. They agreed to continue productive collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
