DPM Marović meets Angelina Eichhorst
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović met with Managing Director for Europe at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Angelina Eichhorst in Brussels.
Marović said that Montenegro is aware of the political moment and is therefore maximally focused on achieving priorities in the area of the rule of law, while expecting that the EU will recognise the achieved results and the efforts made by Montenegro.
Marović pointed out that Montenegro strives to appoint the judicial office holders as soon as possible, based on a comprehensive political dialogue and the consensus of political actors in the Parliament. She also pointed to the changes in the negotiating structure aimed at ensuring more efficient negotiating structure to meet the challenges of the current demanding phase of accession negotiations with the EU.
In order to encourage further reforms in all areas of importance for the negotiation process, it is very important for Montenegro to receive concrete signals and support from the European side, Marović pointed out.
The EU recognises the positive results achieved by Montenegro, especially in terms of full alignment with the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU and the implementation of the sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia, which show your undoubted loyalty to the European system of values, said Eichhorst.
Montenegro is a bright example in the Western Balkans, and the EU is ready to show that with joint efforts we can reach a goal of mutual interest, said Eichhorst, adding that the Union is currently committed to consolidating the European security structure.
The two officials expressed satisfaction regarding the upcoming meeting of the Stabilisation and Association Council, which will be held on 14 July in Montenegro, and which will be a good opportunity to intensify the dialogue at the political level and specify further steps in the accession negotiations.
