DPM Marović meets UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of European Affairs Jovana Marović met with UNDP Resident Representative for Montenegro Daniela Gašparíková. The meeting noted that UNDP and the Ministry of European Affairs will continue to foster successful cooperation through strengthening administrative capacities in the context of Montenegro's accession to the European Union.
Previous cooperation with UNDP in the areas covered by Chapters 19 - Social Policy and Employment, 23 - Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and 27 - Environment and Climate Change has been of great importance for Montenegro's European path, said Marović.
She emphasised that in the coming period, the Ministry of European Affairs has three important priorities, which include strengthening the capacity of the Ministry, restructuring the negotiating structure in accordance with the New Methodology and implementing obligations arising from negotiation process, with special focus on rule of law.
She clearly pointed out that there is the political will of all key actors, adding that the Government is committed to achieving tangible results in Chapters 23 and 24.
UNDP Resident Representative Daniela Gašparíková reminded that UNDP has been providing strong support to Montenegro's EU integration process from the very beginning, through strengthening administrative capacity in the context of the EU accession process.
You can count on the support of UNDP in this last, most demanding phase, when it is necessary to show concrete results, especially in terms of preventing corruption through the prism of public administration reform, improving environmental standards and exercising fundamental rights, especially in terms of gender equality. The five-year cooperation programme between UNDP and Montenegro is complementary with Montenegro's commitments within the EU integration and Agenda 2030, and envisages continued cooperation in strengthening institutional capacity, reform processes and European integration. I am convinced that the systemic response of the entire society and the joint action of all - institutions, civil sector, partners - will contribute to the fulfillment of upcoming obligations, said Gašparíková.
